Bachelorette Cake

Bachelorette Cake

A few years ago, one of my good friends was getting married and we were headed out to a beach house for her bachelorette party.  We had a whole weekend of shenanigans planned and even though we wanted to keep it simple, I could not help but feel this girl needed a good cake (who doesn't you know?)

I saw a few ideas I like on pintrest, but how do I make a "fancy" cake when I specialize in cupcakes?  I knew nothing of frosting or decorating a cake without it looking like a kindergartener did it.

First I needed to find the right "man" for the cake.  Who knew finding a G. I. Joe that was flexible would be soo hard?  After tons of looking, the closest I could find to what I needed (a bendable Ken/G. I. Joe) was Peeta from the Hunger Games. Not as "buff and manly" as I wanted, but sometimes you just have to give a man a chance right??  All I had to do was get him naked and cut his pants into shorts!

I also found miniature dollar bills at Hobby Lobby, and used some fondant to make the other items.  Nothing really special, but boy did he make an impression!

Afterwards he hasn't had much purpose.  This poor nearly naked Peeta sat in the closet until my daughter started playing with barbies.  Now he just needs some clothes!
